Play Big! Glenn Carver Sales Partners Atlanta

Hello Play Big Community!

Whether you have been in business for six months or sixteen years, you know that it is only a matter of time before “heat” comes on your business. All businesses must pass through the stage of “chaos” if they are ever going to reach the stage of “normalcy” much less “power.”

It is imperative that a business have the right context if it is going to avoid becoming a start-up statistic. In 2008, there was an article in the USA Today that said, “Of all businesses started this year, 82% will fail by 2012.” Those are very sobering numbers! It pains me to see a small business fail because an entrepreneur has taken action on his or her dream and most likely put their life savings on the line. Therein lies the importance of context.

Content is the employees, capital, products and services of the business. Context, however, is what binds a business or team together when the pressure is high. When we speak of context, we are primarily speaking of a Code of Honor. Allow me to paint a picture.

Suppose I’m holding a paper cup that represents the context of a business and I pour water into the cup that represents the content i.e. employees, products and services. Now, I strike a match and put the flame under the cup. What do you think will eventually happen to the cup and the contents of the cup? Precisely! The heat will destroy the cup (context) and the content will hit the floor i.e. bankruptcy.

However, what if I’m holding a ceramic mug and do the same exercise? What will happen to the ceramic mug? What will happen to the content inside the mug? Right! It might get uncomfortable when the heat comes on the business, but the context of the mug will not allow destruction of the content.

At Sales Partners Atlanta, we have a Code of Honor that states:
“Never abandon a teammate in need”
“Respond to all inquiries within 24 hours”
“Be on time by being early”
“When you have a problem, deal direct”

This Code of Honor creates accountability and repect with our team. If you would like us to help you install a Code of Honor in your business that holds your team together under pressure, feel free to contact me or Jason Tyne at 678-775-6717.
